Metal Separation Demonstrations at IFAT
By Paul Fears | 01 May 2018
Stainless Steel and Non-Ferrous Metal separation will be demonstrated on the Master Magnets and Bunting Magnetics stand (Hall B6.111) at this year’s IFAT exhibition (Messe Munchen, Munich, Germany, 14-18 May, 2018).
IFAT is widely regarded as the world’s leading trade fair for water, sewage, waste, and raw materials management and is held very two years. 2018 will be the first time that Master Magnets and Bunting Magnetics Europe Ltd have exhibited together at IFAT since the acquisition in early 2017.
This year will also be the first time that the SSSC Magnetic Separator has been displayed in Europe. The SSSC Magnetic Separator is specifically designed to separate larger irregular shaped pieces of shredded stainless up to 125mm (5″) in size. Separation is achieved with a unique and patented high-intensity magnetic grid design that produces a greater holding force area. Since the launch in the USA earlier this year, there has been a significant level of interest with orders placed for installation in shredder operations across North America.
The SSSC is commonly installed after the primary removal of ferrous metals (using an Overband Magnet or Drum Magnet) and non-ferrous metals (using an Eddy Current Separator). The latest Eddy Current Separator will be operating and separating metals on the stand. The new enhanced model has a finely adjustable splitter to enable the recovery or removal of even the smallest metals.
Presently, sales of Eddy Current Separators in 2018 are at record levels and further orders are expected to be secured at IFAT.
“Having both the SSSC and Eddy Current Separator operating on the stand means that visitors can actually see what metal separation is possible,” explained Jonathan Millington, Master Magnet’s Marketing Manager. “People are skeptical about the stainless steel separation ability of the SSSC and it is always great to be able to show them that the claims are accurate.”
Following IFAT, tests can be undertaken at the Master Magnets laboratory in the UK to confirm specific separation objectives.
