Celebrating Recycling Success for Recycle Week
By Paul Fears | 25 September 2018
The 2018 Recycle Week takes place between the 24th and 30th September. Originally conceived 15 years ago, Recycle Week is a celebration of recycling, organised by WRAP under the Recycle Now brand. To celebrate Recycle Week we want to highlight 4 projects where we have helped recycling companies either recover metals or cleanse recycled materials by removing metal.
Recovering Aluminium with Eddy Current Separators
Recycling Lives is one of the most innovative and progressive recycling companies in the United Kingdom. They process a wide range of recovered materials including scrap cars, general scrap metal, WEEE, plastic, and household and commercial waste. Efficiently recovering the metal from the waste stream is vitally important to the economic sustainability of the operation. Following a review of their process, they purchased three Metal Separation Modules. Each Module included two Vibratory Feeders (to evenly spread the material), a high strength Drum Magnet, and an Eddy Current Separator. The Modules removed small ferrous metals on the Drum Magnet before recovering non-ferrous metals on the Eddy Current Separators.
Making Recycling Mobile for CRJ Services
Innovation is vitally important in the recycling sector. When CRJ Services expressed a need for a mobile Metal Separation Module, our engineers took up the challenge. The project design produced the MasterTrax mobile Metal Separation Module. The Module includes a Vibratory Feeder, heavy-duty Drum Magnets and Eddy Current Separator all connected by conveyors and powered by a 65kW generator. The Mobile Metal Separation Module is taken to specific locations where waste has been collected and is used to recover all the ferrous and non ferrous metals.
Mastermag Help Finnish Waste Sorting
Assisting recycling operations recover metal is not limited to the United Kingdom. In Finland, a major household waste handling company installed Overband Magnets and Eddy Current Separators. The plant handles over 66,000 tonnes per annum, recovering approximately 2700 tonnes of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
Spanish Metal Recycler Installs Eddy Current Separator
A metal recycling company in the North of Spain installed a Metal Separation Module to recover ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The Module comprised of a Vibratory Feeder which evenly fed the shredded and sized scrap metal onto a high strength Drum Magnet. After the ferrous metals had been recovered, the remaining mix passed over an Eddy Current Separator which recovered the valuable non-ferrous metals including aluminium, copper and zinc.
This is just a small selection of our recycling projects. We are working with companies based all over the world, conducting tests in our laboratory at Redditch near Birmingham, and supplying metal separation equipment.
